Microsoft’s Windows 10 phone requirement revealed

Microsoft’s Windows 10 phone requirement revealed
While we still wait for Microsoft’s Windows 10 flagship device, the company has now revealed some more details about the hardware requirement. Talking about Windows 10 hardware at its WinHEC hardware conference  in China, the company said the phones will now support faster processors, more RAM, and also higher screen resolutions than the current Windows Phone devices.
Microsoft’s phones will come with screen sizes starting at 3-inches up to 8-inches. Considering the phablet trend ranging between 5 and 6-inches, we could rule out the possibility of a massive 8-inch phablet. On the other hand, a small 3-inch smartphone doesn’t make much sense these days. So, the lower and upper ends are just hypothetical.
Talking about the requirement for the flagship Windows 10 smartphones, they will now need minimum display resolution of 2,560 x 2,048 and at least 4GB of RAM. On the other hand, standard phones are only required from 800 x 480 up to 854 x 480 pixel resolution, and just 512MB of RAM. However, all phones should come with minimum 4GB storage space. Devices with minimum 4GB storage must come with SD card slot support.
Windows 10 will now  support more SoCs including Snapdragon 810, 808, 615, 210, 208, and Intel’s Atom x3, x5 and x7. The list also includes AMD’s Carrizo and Carrizo-L processors. The Intel x5, x7 and Carrizo-L are aimed at tablets.
“While the high-end Qualcomm processors, and all of the Intel and AMD processors, are 64-bit, Windows “Mobile” is presently strictly 32-bit, and those processors will be working in their 32-bit modes,” said ArsTechnica.
Microsoft also revealed that Windows 10 Professional desktop PCs and tablets should come with minimum 7-inch screen size, and consumer tablets and PCs will start at 8-inches. 32-bit versions of Windows 10 will require 16GB of free storage space and 64-bit must have 20GB. Other requirements are 1GB RAM (32 bit), 2GB of RAM (64-bit) and support for DirectX 9 or higher. The specs could be more flexible for desktops.
