YouTube
developers have added 15 more languages to the video-sharing website in
order to get more users on to the site. With this move, the total
number of languages supported by YouTube has climbed to 76.
Some
of the languages added in this installation include Azerbaijani,
Armenian, Georgian, Khmer, Burmese, Nepali, Punjabi, Sinhala, Macedonian
among others.
According
to YouTube, it has the native languages of over 95 per cent of internet
users covered. These 76 languages are for site navigation only.
Choosing any one of them will only translate the website links, buttons
and text into the selected language. There is caption support for over
165 languages.
Just
yesterday, YouTube started showcasing its new design and layout. A few
changes to the new interface have been listed on Google System like the
new design will replace the solid control bar with a gradient and rather
simplifies icons. A few tweaks have also been made to the menus.
Animations have been altered and will now offer a more subtle visual
flair. The new player will also feature bigger and bolder icons. Toggles
for autoplay and annotations have been given a better look and
drop-downs for speed and quality are replaced by mobile-inspired menus.
